How to calculate your rolls' diameters :

Thermal films plastification temperature chart:

Econo ClearÉcono Clair

Polyester (PET) Clear or Matte and AgressivePolyester (PET) Clair ou Mat et Agressif

Applicable values for heat laminators
Variable temperature depending on speed, tension or lamination type

Wide formatGrand format

Low temperature heated rolls = 180o F - 200o F
Heated fabric press = 180o F - 200o F

Film requirements calculation:

1. Amount of rolls required:

a)  Number of prints X Print lenght (in inches) = total
b)  Total in inches / 2 = lenght in feet
c)  Lenght in feet / standard roll yield = amount of rolls required
(X 2 for encapsulation)

Example :

a) 100 X 48” = 4 800
b) 4 800” / 12’ = 400 feets
c) 400’ / 250’ = 1,6 RL (2) one-sided - 3,2 RL (4) encapsulation

2. MSI per roll calculation:

Film width X roll lenght X ,012 = total MSI X MSI price

Example : 38” X 250’ X ,012 = 114 MSI X MSI price (roll price)

3. Cost per sheet:

Sheet widht X sheet lenght / 1 000 X MSI cost = cost per sheet for the printer

Example :

3/2 PET film 38” X 250 image size : 36” X 48”  MSI cost = $2.15
(38 x 48) / per 1 000 X 2.15 = $3.92 one-sided - $7.,84 encapsulation
